Verizon Wireless will start selling Apple's iPhone next year, ending AT&T's U.S. exclusive on the phone, say two people familiar with the plans.iPhone Verizon will unveiled iPhones to customers in 2011, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information is not public.The latest rumor, in case you haven't heard, is that Verizon will start selling Apple's iPhone in January of 2011. AT&T declined to comment about iphone verizon.



Verizon Wireless is planning and building a high-speed fourth-generation network.They plan to release more devices that will run on the 4G technology.Verizon's CDMA-based wireless network differs from the GSM technology AT&T's network is based on.


"Apple is going to dramatically increase the number of devices it sells in the U.S. when exclusivity at AT&aT ends," Hodulik says. "It's hard to ignore the quality issues that AT&T has faced."

This is a victory for Apple having A Verizon partnership. Apple will dominat against rivals such as Research In Motion and Motorola, whose phones are promoted by the carrier. Motorola makes smart phones that use Google's Android operating system. RIM makes BlackBerrys.

"For Apple, it means a larger addressable market," says Andy Hargreaves, an analyst at Pacific Crest Securities. "It's also good news for Apple in that it will spread the load on the wireless data networks."

Apple has sold more than 50 million iPhones since their introduction. The latest version, iPhone 4, sold more than 1.7 million units in the first three days after its June 24 debut.

iPhone 5 will debut in January 2011 or July 2011. July is historically when Jobsy has unveiled the new iPhone models, but iLounge posits it could be earlier, to address the hardware issues in iPhone 4.iPhone 5 “won’t” look that different from the iPhone 4. iPhone 5 is including a faster processor of 1.2GHz, additional memory and more storage, redesigned antenna, and a 3.7″ mobile screen.This is the first time that iPhone launched their big screen handset.The previous range of display was 3.5 inch.

Though Adobe has failed to bring out flash player 10.1 for symbian which brings desktop flash effects to your phone Microsoft has released its flash alternative silverlight to symbian phones.Silverlight is similar to flash and is a .net framework for the web.Silverlight supports videoplayers,animations etc which can spice up your internet experience on the mobile phone.
The silverlight supports only the s60 browser and opera mobile has no support for it.There are two working examples Bing application and HSN application.

I also got Seesmic Web working.Go to http://store.ovi.com/content/46120 to download Silverlight for symbian.All S60V5 devices are supported.

The LG-GD900 mobile phone will feature not only a 3-inch full touchscreen, but also a transparent touchpad that supports finger-writing recognition and vibrational haptic feedback. The stylish looking phone features a slider form factor with the translucent rear slider containing a touchpad that allows users to navigate through the phones features and 3D user interface. Further enhancing the phone’s style cred is the fact that the clear slider will be made from glass instead of plastic.

Besides looking cool, the touchpad also boasts ‘Multi Touch’ capabilities for zooming in and out of web pages and a ‘Gesture Shortcut’ feature that lets users configure their own shortcuts with a simple finger gesture. For example users could write an “M” on the touchpad and configure this command to run the music player. The GD900 is set to launch in Europe and Asia in May with no US release date yet announced.

LG is showcasing the handset at CTIA Wireless 2009 in Las Vegas where we hope to get a first hand look at the phone in action.

Synaptics debuts Fuse next-generation mobile phone concept 

Last December, the world was introduced to the Synaptics Fuse, a new concept in mobile communications. The prototype smartphone is the result of a collaboration between Synaptics, Texas Instruments, Immersion, TheAlloy and The Astonishing Tribe (TAT). What makes this phone so special is its user/phone interface. It takes Synaptics’ pioneering touchscreen technology to a whole new level, allowing people to use the phone one-handed, and without having to even see the screen.

Conventional phones limit their touch-reception to capacitive sensing, meaning they simply detect when a finger makes contact with their screen. The Fuse incorporates capacitive and force sensors, and has them not only on its screen, but also along its sides and even on its back. The side sensors read your grip pressure, allowing for things like one-handed panning and scrolling, while the back sensors allow for unobstructed screen navigation. Two-finger input is possible, which could open the door for all sorts of new functions.

The phone also features haptic feedback, meaning that it can communicate with you through your sense of touch. You know those arcade games where the steering wheel shakes when your car goes off the track? That’s an example of haptic feedback. The Fuse uses it to let you know where your finger is on the screen, even if you can’t see it.

The nature of the development of the Fuse is also a pretty big deal, as the collaboration resulted in an end product with more good qualities than any one company could have provided. Features such as the sensor technology came from Synaptics, while Texas Instruments provided the OMAP 3630 processor, Immersion provided the haptic feedback, TheAlloy was responsible for the overall design, and TAT developed the 3D graphics and user interface software.
